History of Zero Tolerance Policies in Schools
Zero Tolerance Policies were developed to ensure the safety of students while on school grounds. Such policies centered around drugs, weapons, and crimes of violence arising on school campuses across the country. Over time the issue became one of great debate as students were removed from class, suspended, and expelled for violations viewed by many as minor infractions for such harsh penalties.
