The period 1800-1950 has seen an incredible progress in mass transportation ,mostly in the West. Besides of the railway invention around 1800 and its expansion all over the world until the 1910's, road transportation jumped by leaps and bounds between 1910's and the present. Today, most of the transportation (cargo and passengers) is made byroad, thanks to the proliferation of paved roads and highways.
