The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is a law which ensures services to children with disabilities in the United States. IDEA governs how states and public agencies provide early intervention, special education, and other related services to children and youth with disabilities. Along with IDEA, the establishment of the IEP occurred. An IEP is an Individualized Education Program which requires teachers, parents, and administrators to meet once a year to discuss specific needs of an individual student and set goals for academic achievement.
This act influenced STEM education because it has very strict requirements that must be met for individuals.The discipline of math is affected the most. Technology also comes in to the scene as teachers attempt to find the most successful methologies to use as they teach their students.
