In order to meet the goal of scientific literacy for all, the National Research Council created and published "National Science Education Standards." These standards encourage science educators to teach in a way that reflects how science itself is done and emphasizes inquiry.Because science has become a central aspect of our society, the "Standards" encourage science education and learning to take a more prominent role in modern America.
