The Pottawatomie Massacre involved John Brown and his followers. John Brown was an abolitionist described by one historian as " a man made of the stuff of saints." Brown believed that god had called on him to fight slavery and he had a mistaken impression that proslavery posse in Lawrence had killed five men. Brown was mad and on May 24th he and his followers pulled five men out of their beds in the proslavery settlement and hacked off their hands and stabbed them with broadswords. This made many people mad so they went out for revenge. This became known as the Bleeding Kansas.
I picked this topic because I think this is an evemt that showed that if you get people mad then they are going to get revenge and it won"t be pretty. Alos it showed that people can fight and stand up for what they believe in. And if you might hear something wrong then that could lead to many problems.
